Guy Spiller, Engineer Extraordinaire
Guy is truly our “Go-to-Guy” for anything in the technology department. You could say that all things television are in his blood. As the son of a chief engineer of a CBS affiliate back in the 1950s, he was running camera on high school football remotes by the age of 12. In rapid succession, his passion led him from camera, to audio, to camera control unit and eventually, videotape recording and editing.
Driven by his fascination with the equipment used in television production and his personal desire to personally own these “toys,” in 1973, Guy founded and engineered one of the most long-lived and successful video production companies in Virginia, which still thrives to this day under new ownership.
“Retirement” just didn’t work for Guy and eventually he found himself longing for his old “toys.” Today, when he’s not engineering for our projects, he runs a successful media transfer service, using professional quality vintage equipment to preserve video, film and audio history.
